blogging about blogging

i've come to realize that the only time i blog (or remember that i have a blog) is when i am putting something off. if this were the case all of the time, i would have a lot more entries. but for some reason, a unique blend of boredom and procrastination only inspires me to blog a few times a year. today is (obviously) one of these times. i'm at school and thought it would be a great idea to stay here all day before the pixies even though i only have one class because i have a frightening amount of work due in the next two weeks. i did not factor in the restlessness that i may feel before a holiday weekend/seeing one of the best bands/ hanging out later with my palz. so here i am.

strawberry jamz

sooooo yesterday some friends and i went strawberry picking and it was kind of lovely. deanna, nick, rachel and christopher accompanied me and we enjoyed hand selecting individual harvests of the fresh/locally grown produce. i ate one in the field immediately after i picked it because i knew it would taste better there than at home and it did.

summer summer summertime...

at long last, there are only 3 hours between me and summer. the beginning of the summer is usually the best part for me because i dream of the boundless potential for all of the great summery activities that i could do if i feel like it, but usually don't. i fall into a cycle of wake up at 2, go to work, go out, and repeat. don't get me wrong; this formula can be great in its own right, but in order to save myself from its monotonous grip, i compiled a list (with the help of thomas john craig) of things i've always wanted to do in summer's past but have never gotten around to (and some old favorites worth revisiting):

1) GO ON A BOAT. does anyone have a boat? my friend jason used to have one but he sank it.

2) go to the zoo (bronx, of course.)

3) the aquarium

4) central park for a picnic with some wine and a stocked picnic basket

5) summer shows outdoors

6) the beach a lot
- OK i say this every year... but this year i cared enough to include it in a list on the interweb, so obvs i am 4 rl about it this time.

7) fire island

8) bluepoint brewery

9) montauk point to search for montauk monsters

10) parties

11) bbqs

12) festivals (all kinds)

13) jordan's lobster pound (their bisque is to die for!)

14) the nautical mile (ottos rulz)

15) strawberry picking (they are ripe in june)

summer resolutions:
- buy lemonade from every lemonade stand i see
- read 10 books

everyone is invited to everything.

the blog of crog

hey blog. long time no speak. for this i apologize, but you were forewarned that this would be the nature of our relationship. i promise once summer is upon us we will correspond more frequently. or i guess i will respond to you, it won't be much of a co-respondence.

anywho, the purpose of today's entry is to admit that i am a fangirl of the crog blog. just looking at its one and only 6 month old entry inspired me to make a post of my own. i look forward to its future development, but singing its praises is not the only purpose of this entry i write.

what i am really getting at here, if you couldn't see this coming already, is that i have a bone to pick with my employer, who's practice i sit in as i type.

it's saturday morning. i've had 3.5 hours of sleep. i feel dehydrated and i've been sitting in an office, alone with no phones ringing since 8:04 am eastern standard time. it's now 9:12. not a single phone call, not a single client. just me. and this computer. these factors may contribute the disorientation of this post, but that is what i feel and for that i cannot apologize.

what i'm trying to say is "hey boss, let's open at 9:30 on saturdays."

birds vs. steel

hey, i don't know if you guys heard, but there was this football game last night. american football. it was birds vs. steel and i obviously was rooting for the birds, being that birds > steel. i wore my cardinals cardigain to support them, but it didn't work. i didn't even watch the game though because the puppy bowl was on and puppies > american football. i was also distracted by other stuff like all this really good food that people made and beer and talking to people. the only part of the game i watched was the halftime show because the boss was performing and he really tore it up. there were mad horns and singing and a couple fireworks and the boss slid across the stage and hit the camera! i bought 4 boxes to win some big money but i lost, so i was heated until i remembered that i didn't really care.

now i gotta go to class. peace outt blog

are you there blog? it's me, laura.

I've been toying with the idea of blogging for some time now, but I've put it off thus far because I have some reservations about starting another project that I am likely to be really enthusiastic about at first and will soon grow to neglect.   On the other hand, I have stuff to say and writing is always a great form of expression, so maybe I will give it a shot.  Plus, blogging can serve as a great distraction from more important tasks i'd rather not be doing.  For example, I am really supposed to be doing two essays right now...

...and I am at work and have tasks to complete that should take precedence over my blogging, as well as my essays, such as answering the phone right now.)
